Town 0-1 Newcastle Sun 09th Dec 2001 18:53 Town fell to yet another home defeat as Nolberto Solano, last year's red card villain in this fixture, scored a first half winner for Newcastle. Town huffed and puffed and as ever had loads of possession, but as usual the crossing wasn't up to much and clearcut chances were very far and few between. |
Newcastle 4-1 Town Tue 27th Nov 2001 23:30 A stunning first half striking display from Newcastle saw Town out of the Worthington Cup. Goals from Robert, Ameobi and two from Shearer, all before the break put the home side four-up. Darren Bent hit Town's goal late in the second half. |
Town 1-1 Torpedo Moscow Thu 20th Sep 2001 23:44 In the end Town could count themselves unlucky not to take a lead back to Moscow for the second leg next week. However, for much of the game it looked like the Russians would run out the winners. Titus Bramble was both hero and villain and Marcus Stewart missed a first half penalty. |
Leicester 1-1 Town Sat 08th Sep 2001 18:09 A controversial last minute goal saw Peter Taylor grab a lifeline on an afternoon of high drama, but little impressive football. A year or so ago Barry Knight was the anti-hero of Bolton as he sent off two of their players and gave Town three penalties in the second leg of the play-off semi. Few of those decisions were debatable, however the two red cards, one penalty, a hatful of bookings, the failure to red card Robbie Savage and finally the late Dean Sturridge goal left supporters with a lot to talk about after the game. |
Portman Village News Tue 13th Mar 2001 10:55 The Portman Village plan outlined by the council a few months back has had some more detail filled in. The plan which seeks to align the developments at Portman Road with the car park and hotel plan for the Cattlemarket and the work on the old Churchman's factory now has additional aims. |
Town 3-0 Spurs Sat 30th Dec 2000 15:13 Devastating Town took a woeful Spurs side apart at Portman Road 3-0, but it could have been even more. Town took the lead through a Marcus Stewart goal in the 8th minute. Second half goals from Alun Armstrong and substitute Jamie Clapham sealed the result. But for a number of excellent saves from Neil Sullivan, the crossbar preventing James Scowcroft and a disallowed goal from Titus Bramble Town might have won by even more. |
Man Utd 2 - 0 Town Sat 23rd Dec 2000 18:04 Two Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goals condemned Town to a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. A dominating first half performance saw the Champions to victory, although Town came back much stronger in the second half. |
Reserves 2-1 Coventry Wed 22nd Nov 2000 21:35 Two Richard Logan goals saw Town to victory at Portman Road tonight with a late Jairo Martinez goal too little to draw Coventry level. |
Titus Stars as Town draw Sat 12th Aug 2000 18:47 Town finished their pre-season friendly programme with a 1-1 draw with Italian Serie A giants Fiorentina. Star of the show was Titus Bramble who put on an awesome display at the back against world class strikers like Portugal's Nuno Gomes. |
Abidallah Stars in Friendlies Sat 29th Jul 2000 19:14 Two friendlies in two days has seen a new Town star emerge: Nabil Abidallah. In last night’s 3-0 win at Colchester the Dutchman, in a twenty-five minute spell as sub, showed he had skills aplenty with fans tagging him Kieron, a player he resembles both in appearance and playing style. In this afternoon’s game at Heybridge Swifts’ Scraley Road he was once again impressive and set up both Town goals in a 2-2 draw. |
